TRANSMOW 2021
The cruise started on April 28th in Barcelona on board of the oceanographic research vessel (R/V) Hespérides and finished in Gijón on May 16. The main goal of Transmow 2021 was to characterize the exiting Mediterranean waters through the strait of Gibraltar, also called Mediterranean Outflow Waters, through an innovative method based on Neodymium isotopes measurements, a tracer of water mass origin. Since MOW represents a net flux of warm and salinity into de Atlantic Ocean, in the actual context of climate change, become imperative to understand its potential impact in the North Atlantic Circulation. TRANSMOW cruise is covering part of the TIMED objectives.
